Dr. Berl Best: Teaching videos and books, Dr. Best has retired from the Counseling Center at Central Bible College in Springfield, MO. Now he is with the team of NCCT.

 First Semester

PS - 102                     [2]  A BIBLICAL THEOLOGY OF COUNSELING

(This course is designed for the study of the integration of biblical truths and psychological concepts. It is the viewing of theological implications for the emotional, spiritual, and relational needs of mankind. The development of a biblical philosophy for helping others will be developed)

 PS - 103                     [3]  GENERAL PSYCHOLOGY

(This course is designed to study the basic facts, principles, and methods in psychology. An emphasis is placed on the fundamental principles underlying human behavior)

 SS - 103                      [3]  INTRODUCTION TO SOCIOLOGY

(An introduction to the principles of human interaction and the culture it produces. Basic concepts of social institutions, collective behaviors, culture, and the personality are discussed)

 Second Semester

PS - 203                     [3]         ABNORMAL PSYCHOLOGY

(This course acquaints the student with the various diagnostic categories of neuroses, psychoses, and character disorders. Current theories that seek to explain abnormal behaviors are discussed and compared with biblical concepts of mental illness. The components of good mental health and a well integrated personality are also considered)

PS - 213                     [3]         INTRODUCTION TO COUNSELING

(This course is designed to explore the personal qualities, skills, and characteristics of effective pastoral counselors. The different theories/models of counseling will be studied)

 PS - 223                     [3]         ADOLESCENT PSYCHOLOGY

(This course is designed to study the individual from puberty to young adulthood. An emphasis is placed on the physical, mental, emotional, social and personality growth of the person. Also, attention is given to guidance toward acceptable behaviors and the prevention of delinquent behaviors

 Third Semester

PS - 233                     [3]         PASTORAL COUNSELING

(This course is designed to acquaint the pastoral counselor with identifying the various developmental, personal, and religious problems that affect the local church) 

SS - 353                     [3]         MARRIAGE AND FAMILY

(This course is designed to acquaint the pastoral counselor with pre-marriage and marriage relationships, structure and functions of the family as a unit, intra-family relationships, and early child training. Intra-family tensions and processes are analyzed)

 PS - 212                     [2]         DEATH, GRIEF AND DYING

(This course is designed to acquaint the student with the concepts of death and grief.  New and different ways to view death will be examined. Death will be viewed from the responses the responses of and rituals of different cultures. Students are encouraged to explore the grieving process relative to their own lives. The process of bereavement, sensitivity to grief, and counseling process will be examined. Social institutions offering support services will be discussed.) 

Fourth Semester

PS - 242                      [2]   MULTICULTURAL COUNSELING

(This course is designed to increase the awareness of the major issues in the caring and counseling among diverse cultures. The interface of psychology, anthropology, and pastoral care are examined)

PS - 243                      [3]   MARRIAGE AND FAMILY COUNSELING

(This course is designed to acquaint the student with a biblical view of marriage and the family. The emphasis will be placed on the biblical view of family life, contemporary formulations of family dynamics, and a survey of theological approaches to family counseling)

Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling 

Tuition: $5,500.00 . . . Lifelong Learning Degree, plus $40.00 Application Fee (Two Year Program) Masters of Biblical Counseling

When a student reaches the master level, he or she has reached a level where course study is no longer a challenge. The student will be required to submit a 30,000 word positional thesis in his or her chosen field of study. This must be typewritten and bound. 

Thesis Must Be Defended Before Review Board. 

 

Degrees for Life Earned Experience 

The North Carolina College of Theology will award degrees for life earned experience. We do have requirements that must be met in order for people to receive these degrees. We DO NOT sell degreesYou must have verifiable time in ministry to receive the degree you have applied for, whether it is in Biblical Studies, Counseling, etc. We take into consideration different jobs you have performed in the church or ministerial work that you have been involved in and make an assessment of each case individually. Many pastors are NOW deserving of a Doctorate in Divinity and should have it. Our Life Earned Degrees are identical to the degrees we issue to our students who graduate from our satellite extension program. We are out to be a blessing to those in the field of ministry and desire to help educate as many people as we can. 

Prerequisite:  Doctor of Biblical Studies, Theology
Tuition:  $2,750.00 plus $40.00 application fee
Thesis: 35,000 words with 15 years of Life-Earned Experience

The appropriate state University of North Carolina authority has declared the relevant degree program of study exempt from the requirements for licensure under provisions of North Carolina General Statutes Section G.S. 116-15 (d)  for exemption from licensure with respect to religious education. 

Exemption from licensure is based upon assessment of program quality under established licensing standards.


THE LENGTH OF THE THESIS FOR EACH DEGREE
MAY BE CHANGED BY THE PRESIDENT OF NCCT
AT HIS DISCRETION, DEPENDING ON CIRCUMSTANCES
AND LIFELONG EXPERIENCE. 

The books required for our degree program are based on the discretion of the President and Founder of NCCT. NCCT makes no apology for being a Christian Bible College.
